We are delighted to announce our partnership with one of France’s brightest, young golfing stars, Clément Sordet, who will be collaborating with Ocean Refresh at this year’s British Masters 2020. Clément will be sporting the Ocean Refresh logo to the right of his chest throughout the tournament, along with representing the brand, it will most importantly be emphasizing the message behind it globally.
At the tender age of just 27, Clément has already proved his golfing prowess in a number of high-profile championships. He secured his second professional tournament on the Challenge tour in 2016, followed by a back to back win at the Viking challenge and NBO Golf classic grand final. He is now ‘making waves’ at the British Masters, currently in tied 15th position, showcasing his progressive style of play!
As a sustainable and eco-friendly brand, it was extremely important for us to find a sportsman who shares comparable beliefs to represent us on a grand scale. Clément, being consciously aware of his impact on the environment and sticking to a meat-free diet, provided the perfect partnership for both parties.
Clément is not afraid to vocalise his passion for sustainability and environmentally friendly solutions; displaying his support for the abolition of animal poaching and the creation of sustainable products on his social media platforms. Clément and his team at ISM also actively participate in greener and ecological work within the golfing sphere, partnering with a sustainable company, OCEAN TEE, who manufacture a range of golf products using sustainable materials and environmentally friendly processes. Ocean Refresh is now a new partnership he’s joined forces with and we couldn’t be more delighted!
Clément Sordet said: “I am really excited to link-up with Ocean Refresh, a company with a cause that is very close to my heart. Ocean Refresh’s desire to make a change and the philosophy by which they work is a great example to us all. I can’t wait to get back out on the course and carry the Ocean Refresh logo and help their message!”
We are delighted to have the support of such a talented sportsman, who mirrors our own brand’s ethos. Having a high-profile figure at a global event to translate our core message is integral to reach a wider audience and cultivate a conversation regarding the environment! Sport also provides the perfect platform and backdrop to do this. Today sportsmen play a big part in influencing society and are often role models for the next generation. With the support of Clément and ISM, we believe our message will be heard amongst the golfing world and beyond.
Why is sustainability so important?
Sustainability is important for a very simple, straightforward reason: we cannot maintain our quality of life as human beings, the diversity of life on Earth, or Earth’s ecosystems unless we improve our plastic pollution.
Everyday approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find its way into our oceans. Our plastic pollution problem is reducing countless marine wildlife to death and even contaminating the food that we eat. The plastic epidemic is increasingly calling for greater awareness and education on the harmful effects of plastic pollution, in addition to a reduction on single-use plastic and improved waste management.
At Ocean Refresh, we work with factories to utilise plastic waste that is found on our beaches and in our oceans to produce our collection of recycled plastic flip-flops, sliders and accessories, utilising eco-friendly processes to produce a stylish and comfortable finished product.
We have a burning desire to free our oceans from plastic and aim to remove 2 million plastic bottles from our oceans by 2021, making a long-lasting, positive impact for all living creatures. Through our products, we want to educate the next generation about the importance of sustainability and how our behaviour affects the ecosystem around us.
Our goal is to showcase how something seemingly so small, such as flip-flops, can make such a huge difference to our planet.
